$20 Quicckshifter

Post by exposuredesigns » Sun Nov 03, 2013 8:29 pm

Hi guys, here is a video to show you how to make a quickshifter to plug in to a power commander 5 on the Nuda. You can make if for under $20AUD and a bit of workshop time.

Fantastic, one of the best value for money "How To's" i've seen. I will be attempting that soon. Cheers.

Let me know how you go this one. I also just did one for my wife's street triple R, and it doesn't even need a pcv. :)

Brilliant!! Well done. I will be doing this mod for sure.
Curious though does it work on downshift aswell?

I doubt it would.. Gearing up without clutching in (so long as you're off the throttle) is ok, but down-shifting would be a different story. Can't see it being any good for the drive train. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but that makes sense to me...

With my limited experience with quick shifters is that they all work up -down shifting. I have a RGV 250 SP with a factory fitted one and I only use the clutch to take off and stop.

Quick shifters are for upshifting only, do not down shift without using the clutch, it will be an expensive repair!

Most quick shifters only work one way for this reason, you either get one that works pushing or pulling the shift rod.

I downshift with a blip clutchlessly regularly, no problems so far.

But this setup wouldn't work downshifting given that the spring switch only activates when there is slack given (shifting upwards). Shifting downwards would put greater tension on the spring (the opposite). I've just ordered a PCV and brake switch to do this setup on my bike. Will post results if anyone is interested.

I wonder if a plug and play kit is available somewhere. (for use with PC V)
Would love to install this mod, but can't see myself fabricating the brackets as nicely as shown in te vid.
If anyone is doing this mod and is willing to fabricate a second set, I'd be happy to take it off your hands (I am sure others would as well)
Cheers !
