Dumb and dumber ride to the nuda meet (the long way)

Post by Ironzie » Sat May 14, 2016 10:15 pm

In one week time me and my mate (indecisive Dave) will be traveling across Europe heading for the nuda meet in Germany, I decided to make this event part of my two week euro trip and I can't wait!

I plan on visiting some ww2 sites and D day beaches in Normandy France
Some quality riding in Vosges France
As many miles as possible time permitted in the black forest Germany
Drop into Austria
Rattenberg Germany for the nuda meet
Bach through Austria via some epic mountain passes
Drop into dolomites Italy and hopefully get lost for 3-4 days
Back into France and hit up the movan area
Then dash back to rosscoff for the ferry home

Well that's the plan but nothing is set in stone as I don't have any hotels booked
So anything can be changed at any time ,I plan to just wing it ,ride till I drop and then camp out

So some people know what I look like but here's another pic to add to this post and one of Dave and the formidable beemer

I'm hoping to update this thread as I travel and show some pics

Great trip man!
Some hotspots: Au, Austria: The entrance gate towards the greatest Alpin passes. Prepare to get lost for a couple of weeks if you setvoff towards the dolomites.
Allerheiligen, black forest germany: Very quiet road, especially made for Nuda riders. Great up/downhill off and on the hochschwarswaldtrasse
Johanneskreuz, north vosges: Great roads and not as busy as the southern vosges (good riding though)
Dive into the Eifel, Germany if you get the chance.

Oh, try to avoid the Bodensee especially from the Suisse side.
Loads of traffic, speed cams,...

I will be steering towards the Alps again second week of June.
Dress warm and keep dry! (some of the highest passes open 1st of June or later, depending on weather conditions!)
I hereby swear to almighty Goddess Nuda that I will ride her as hard as I can and have all things needed to keep her running in peak form taking me to new heights everyday. Amen.

Cheers guys

Exciting! 8-)

Thanks for taking the time to post your tips wanyus! Am browsing the areas you mentioned , I have around 15hours 500mls riding marked up in south west Germany so I probably can't add much more

Clothing choice is an interesting one ,I'm thinking of wearing my well vented but not so water proof jacket with a gerbings heated jacket underneath and carry a throw over water proof top instead of my bullet proof Rukka because it still may be quite warm in France and the low lands and walking about with the heavy hot Rukka in warm temperatures would be a killer for my Irish ass

Yeah, last year was 27-30C. I'm rocking a 2piece leathers with a onepiece wetsuit at the ready. Do about 570 miles from the Hook to Maierhof in ca. 9hours.

Good luck, enjoy. Try and dip into Slovenia, loved it on my last trip.

Only interesting thing on the ferry was the gypsy family ,one of the young men had a large chunk missing out of his ear and scars over his face ,he was totally drunk and could hardly to speak , all the he kids were running around the boat in their PJs eating bags of chrisps ,quite funny

I didn't dare take a pic haha

Day one in France :

Dave has the satnav so is leading the way ,we ploted a route along the Brittany coast and first stop was 'mont St Michael' why miss Frances second best tourist attraction ,what could go wrong!
